Who We Are

Arizona Cancer Coalition

Comprehensive Cancer Control (CCC) programs across the nation work in their communities to promote healthy lifestyles and recommended cancer screenings, educate people about cancer symptoms, increase access to quality cancer care, and enhance the quality of life for cancer survivors.

The Arizona Cancer Coalition (ACC) began nearly two decades ago with a group of healthcare providers, state employees, community partners, and cancer survivors tasked to address the complex issue of cancer in this state.

Today, the ACC is divided into five work groups, each focusing on a different aspect of the cancer care continuum: policy, early detection & prevention, treatment, survivorship, and childhood cancer. Together these groups develop work plans that apply their knowledge and skill sets while providing meaningful and impactful resources to those affected by the disease.

Childhood Cancer Workgroup

Childhood cancer remains a top priority for Arizona. Early diagnosis of childhood cancer can be challenging because symptoms are similar to those of more common childhood illnesses. Thankfully, improvements in detection and care have led to significant increases in the number of patients who survive their diagnosis.

The Arizona Cancer Coalition’s Childhood Cancer Workgroup is composed of health care providers, philanthropic leaders, community advocates, and, most importantly, families. Together, this group has developed goals, objectives, and strategies that emphasize patient-centered care and strong, supportive networks.

The goal of the Childhood Cancer Workgroup is to provide for Arizona’s Childhood Cancer Community through education and community involvement. To learn about the specific goals and objectives of the Childhood Cancer Workgroup, please download the current Arizona Cancer Control Plan above.
