FOCUS: Creating active play opportunities for immunocompromised children and a community for their families
Lily’s Pad is a nonprofit dedicated to bringing laughter and play into the lives of immune compromised children and their families. Many children dealing with cancer, congenital heart defects, autoimmune deficiencies, burn victims, organ transplants and more will find themselves in an immune compromised state. This often forces children into quarantine, creating loneliness and isolation. Our organization provides resources and support to families of these children and ultimately plans to open an indoor playground designed specifically around the needs of the immunosuppressed. Services include:
- Peer Support for parents of immunocompromised children
- “Live, Laugh and Play Packs” – activity boxes designed to help the immune compromised child engage in fun and playful activities while in a quarantined state.
- Building a hyperclean play space for immune compromised children in Tempe.
- Anticipated completion date in late 2021.
